You’re all moved in! Time to discover your neighborhood!

Moving into your new neighborhood opens up a world of new possibilities. There are new attractions, new local festivities, and new activities to do no matter what your interests are. By knowing where to look, you  can find things that fit you and your family’s interests.

For Families:

Discovering new places for family outings in Plano and the surrounding areas can be as easy as picking up a newspaper, but there are even more personable ways to discover your neighborhood. By attending functions at your children’s school, you will be able to not only meet your child’s friends and teachers, but have an opportunity to discuss local events with other parents. Who better to suggest family-friendly activities than someone else with kids? Gather ideas and make an event of it!

For Couples:

Moving together as a couple is an exciting experience. Beginning a new chapter in your lives in a new place is a time to make memories. Finding activities for couples is as simple as venturing around your neighborhood. Going to coffee shops, local music venues and clubs and talking to other couples can get the ball rolling, and if the two of you see something interesting, don’t be afraid to explore!

Going Solo:

Our part of Texas has a lot to offer the solo adventurer, and meet-up groups are a great way to make friends if you don’t yet know anyone in your city. Sites like Meetup.com have events posted for people with all sorts of interests from running to dogs to gourmet cooking. Find one that interests you-or something you’ve never tried-and go for it! Chances are there will be other Plano newcomers attending. Other websites like Reddit have sections for different cities where people from all walks of life are hosting a plethora of events.

You’re new in town, and while that can be daunting, newness can be fun and exciting. Don’t forget, you can also find likeminded and interesting people by asking your new neighbors!
