Bri Bagwell and the Banned with special guest Kenna Danielle will perfrom at Buffalo Creek Friday, August 7. Tickets are $10. She started her band “The Banned”, in 2011 after a top 10 finish on CMT’s Next Superstar, a singing competition and reality show. She has been named Texas Female Vocalist of the year for 2013 and 2014.

Ride a wagon through the Royalty Pecan Farms orchard, and learn about pecan production. You’ll also have fun cracking pecans and browsing th gift shop full of pecans, baked goods, fine Texas wines, and specialty gourmet treats! Stay for the day, bring a picnic lunch or a kite, and enjoy the expansive lawn overlooking the orchard. Tours are every Saturday, but spots are limited, $3 tickets can be purchased online.

The Texas Bluebird Society’s annual symposium promotes the conservation of bluebirds and teaches the public how to attract and provide quality habitat for bluebirds across Texas. There will be guest speakers, door prizes, and a silent auction. Members who pledge to “NestWatch” at least two nestboxes will receive a FREE TBS nestbox. Registration required.

Mic Check Poetry Slam

Mic Check Poetry is a local nonprofit dedicated to spoken word or “slam” poetry. They have weekly meet-ups on Sundays at Revolution Cafe and Bar in Downtown Bryan. The second Sunday of every month, they host a poetry slam (the competition side of poetry) for prizes. Anyone is welcomed to perform and read (sign up upon arrival).

This interactive wine dinner will be filled with mystery, laughs and wonderful wine pairings! Each guest who attends will receive a character assignment (costumes are HIGHLY encouraged!) – Each character will have fun quirks so be sure to leave your inhibitions at the door! 1st Course: Greek Salad Red onion, Kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes and feta cheese tossed together with spinach and a Chenin Blanc oregano vinaigrette. 2nd Course: Moussaka Ground lamb cooked in a sweet merlot tomato sauce, then layered with eggplant and red onion and topped with a creamy béchamel sauce. 3rd Course: Chocolate Baklava: Chocolate and Texas pecans stuffed inside phyllo dough and topped with a port chocolate fudge sauce.

Texas based songwriter, Max Stalling, will be playing at the Buffalo Creek Winery. Tickets are $10. With over sixty thousand CDs sold, Stalling  received a star on the South Texas Music Walk of Fame in Corpus Christi. Stalling plays about 150 shows a year and is in the third year of a Budweiser sponsorship. His song “Scars and Souvenirs” was used as the title for an episode of Grey’s Anatomy in 2007 and he is featured on the CW Network’s Troubadour, TX television series.
