Plano Movers Tips on How to Protect Your Furniture While Packing for a Move

When planning your move, one of the biggest issues (and perhaps the most important) you face is how to safely protect your furniture during your move. Being as the furniture that your Plano Movers will be relocating to your new home are the biggest items and many times the most delicate depending on the age and condition of the furniture, it is important to keep your furniture secure. Your Plano movers are happy to perform a full service move and pack, protect and move your furniture, but if you are packing yourself, there are specific protocols to follow that will help protect the surfaces of your items. Your Plano movers have compiled a list of furniture protection tips that will ensure that when you arrive at your new home, your items will be damage free!

Gathering Necessary Supplies

Your Plano movers will be the first to tell you that moving is more than cardboard boxes and packing tape! While these items will be important to your move, investing in a few more supplies will help your move become seamless. Head to your local store and obtain these additional supplies (your local Plano movers also offer these supplies and full service moves!)

● Bubble Wrap

● Corrugated cardboard boxes

● Sofa and mattress covers

● Plastic stretch wrap

● Sealable plastic bags

The Basics First

Before you pack the first item, remember to take the proper steps to clean your furniture first. Dust, dirt, and other debris can scratch and damage your furniture during the moving process. (And, your furniture will be fresh and clean when arriving in your new home-fresh and clean for a fresh start!)  Remove all pulls, knows, and casters, and take drawers out of dressers. (You can use these for packing later!)

Disassemble Furniture

Your Plano movers recommend dismantling your furniture whenever possible. This makes it easier for furniture to be moved and packed, and protects legs from getting scratched in doorways or in your moving truck.  Your Plano movers use moving cloths to keep furniture safe, but taking it apart give an extra layer of protection..Remember to place screws in sealable plastic bags and tape the bags to the furniture it belongs with to keep organized.

Wrapped Furniture is Happy Furniture

Using Bubble Wrap and plastic sheeting will save your furniture.Protecting delicate wooden pieces and surfaces with bubble wrap, blankets, and cardboard sheets will ensure a safe move for your items.

Wrap mirrors completely, back and front, and tape across the piece as to prevent shattering.
