First Things First: What to do the First 24 Hours at a New Place-Tips from Your Frisco Movers

Whether you’re moving in town or across the country, it can be overwhelming stepping into a sea of boxes when you’re finally ready to spend the night at your new place. It’s important to set the tone for the rest of your time living there, and start off on the right foot. Now that your Frisco movers have packed and moved all of those boxes, here are our top five tips for making the most out of your moving day.

Netflix and … Pizza?

Hopefully you’ve read some of our other moving day tips, and you’ve hired your friendly local Frisco movers to put every box in the correct room. Now that the heavy lifting is done, what’s next? Before you go crazy with the box cutter, take the time to set up your wifi so you can listen to music or watch Netflix as you unpack. Then, order a pizza or some takeout and recharge your batteries before you start tackling those boxes.

Clean it up

Hopefully, your new space is relatively clean when you move in, but every place has at least a spot or two that will need your attention. Getting these out of the way, whether it’s a stained bathtub or a spotty carpet, is much easier before you’ve unpacked. This is also a good time to run the dishes through the dishwasher, to get rid of any dust or particles that may be on them from the moving process. Alternatively, you could hire a cleaning service to come in and do most of the hard work for you. If you go that route, you may want to schedule for them to come before the boxes start arriving so they can get to every nook and cranny. Having local Frisco movers means that we’ve seen and know about a lot of local cleaning companies and come with great recommendations!

Breakfast and Bed

While those dishes are running, pull out the coffeemaker! Besides perking you up after a long day, brewing a fresh pot of coffee (or tea) will make your new place smell like home. The next step is to put the bed together, and make the bed. These two small things will make your new space infinitely more comfortable. Plus, you’ll feel great rolling into a freshly made bed your first night!

Howdy, Neighbor!

No, you don’t have to show up with a muffin basket, but if you happen to see your neighbors during the moving process, introduce yourself! Don’t worry if you’re sweaty or feel you don’t look your best – everyone has moved at one point or another. And if you don’t meet within the first week or so, you might be missing out on a new friend. You never know when knowing your neighbor will come in handy! As Frisco movers, we see a lot of places in town-ask us for a recommendation!

Quiet Down

After you’ve introduced yourself, keep that new neighbor in mind your first night home. Try to avoid making a bunch of noise that could keep them up after 9:00 PM or so to put your best foot forward. Things to avoid are loud music, vacuuming, using drills or other power tools, or hanging up artwork.
