BOX BY BOX: Tips on Packing a Moving Box
When you think of preparing to pack boxes for the move, it may seem like an easy task, but there is a right and a wrong way to pack to ensure your boxes don’t fall apart or buckle under their weight. When your moving box is packed correctly, it will fully protect all of your items that it contains and successfully keep all the items packed from getting damaged or broken in transit. As professional Frisco movers, we are seasoned box-packers. Here are some of our favorite tips for packing a moving box:
We always recommend using a new, corrugated box when packing your items into moving boxes. If you’re trying to stay within a certain budget and obtain boxes from your local grocery store, test their durability before packing them! You can get new moving boxes from your Frisco movers (that’s us!)
An ideal box should be strong, with rigid sides, and without any damage to the sides or corners. Once you are sure you have a sturdy box, follow the below tips from your Frisco movers to ensure a successfully packed moving box:
- Reinforce the bottom of the boxes. This is especially important if the box is used or has been previously broken down for whatever reason. using good reinforcement will keep your box from collapsing and make it so that the box will not open and allow your items to fall through the bottom
- Pack the heaviest items on the BOTTOM of the box to create a stable box. This will also make it easier to carry.
- Fill the empty space of the box with fabric, packing paper, and newspapers (make sure you don’t have anything that you don’t want ink on) You can also use clothes, dishtowels, or bubble wrap. This will also allow you to pack more items like clothing into fewer boxes. Bonus! This will ensure your items will stay still in transit.
- MAKE SURE YOUR BOXES ARE COMPLETELY SEALED. Never pack a box too full to close or with items sticking out through the sides.
