A Few Tips To Make Your Next Move A Stress-Free One

In our last blog, we took the opportunity to highlight three reasons to choose Wildcat Movers for your next commercial or residential move in the greater Dallas region. To briefly recap, we are licensed and insured, have a great reputation online and offline, and we’ve got no hidden fees, only flat-rate moving services. For these reasons, along with many others, we are among the very best moving companies in Dallas and beyond. At the end of the day, we put our customers first and it’s kept us in business for over a decade!

The above concerns our qualities as a local moving company, but the rest of today’s post will be more general. So even if you aren’t in the greater Dallas region per se, you’ll still find some value in it. So read on if you would like a handful of tips about ways you can make your move stress-free!

A Few Tips For Your Next Move

As we said in our last blog, this isn’t our first rodeo here at Wildcat Movers. We’ve been in business for over ten years, and it’s no coincidence that our success coincides with our outstanding customer service. Over the years, we’ve seen our fair share of smooth moves, but we’ve also seen some hectic, stressful moves where our customers couldn’t seem to get out of their own way.

Don’t be those people. Instead, follow a few of these simple tips to set yourself up for success!

Create A Master To-Do List

People go about difficult tasks in different ways. Some people love to make to-do lists for every little thing each day of their lives, while others will bottle it all up and do their best to remember everything they had to do that day.

If you are of the latter variety, we urge you to try to become a bit more “Type A” for this move alone. Why? Moving is complicated. As such, most people aren’t going to be able to remember every little detail of each task they need to accomplish. That’s why we strongly recommend you create a master to-do list to help you stay organized. You’ll find that chipping away at the list becomes a lot less daunting than not knowing where to start when you are stuck, stressed out of your mind because you kept everything in your head.

Don’t Procrastinate

This one sounds simple on paper, but it’s easy to get sucked into. It’s important to be proactive with your move, and the earlier, the better. Otherwise, tasks will start to mount up and you’ll be so stressed out you’ll feel like giving up! Plus, you might get grumpy. Nobody wants to be around a grump.

Keep, Donate, Toss

Here’s a fun game the whole family can participate in (although we recommend you keep the final say). Divide your possessions into three main categories: keep, donate, toss. The first is for belongings you’ll take with you on your move, the second you can subdivide into “sell” and “donate,” and the third goes into the trash can.

Now, if you do involve the family, emotions might run high, so don’t say we didn’t warn you! However, this is an essential task which really helps get the ball rolling with packing.

Research At Least Three Moving Companies

Our final tip in today’s blog is to make sure you do your due diligence when it comes to research professional movers. Don’t just sign up with the first local moving company whose ad you happen to find; do some background investigation to make sure this is a reputable, honest business you are comfortable with. Make sure they are insured, licensed, and offer flat-rate moving services (like we do here at Wildcat Movers!).
